Precision Fabrics Group was created in 1988 in a leveraged buyout from Burlington Industries, and continues today as a privately-held company. The Company has evolved from a traditional textile manufacturer into an engineered materials business, focused on highly technical, high-quality woven and nonwoven materials.
Today, PFG employs approximately 600 associates and operates plants in North Carolina, Virginia and Tennessee. Corporate headquarters are located in Greensboro, NC. Our Vinton, VA plant specializes in weaving some of the most technically challenging continuous-filament fabrics in the world. Our Greensboro and Madison, TN facilities are world-class in the range of nonwoven products produced.
Precision Fabrics was the first ISO-qualified textile supplier in the USA. ISO continues to provide the discipline and framework for effective and efficient product development, customer service, and manufacturing. Lanty L. Smith
Board of Directors Chairman
Mr. Smith serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Precision Fabrics Group. He founded Precision Fabrics in 1988 to purchase the existing businesses of the Precision Fabrics Division of Burlington Industries, Inc. Mr. Smith was president of Burlington from 1986 to 1988. He joined Burlington as executive vice president and senior general counsel and then progressively assumed operating responsibility for several Burlington Divisions. Prior to joining Burlington, Mr. Smith was a partner in the law firm of Jones Day. Mr. Smith is also Chairman and CEO of Tippet Capital, LLC, Scion NeuroStim, LLC, AegisCN LLC and LadeRx LLC. Mr. Smith holds numerous other board memberships in for-profit companies, higher education, healthcare and civic organizations. Mr. Smith is a native of Sherrodsville, Ohio. He is an honors graduate in mathematics of Wittenberg University, and he earned a law degree with honors from Duke University. Mr. Smith and his wife, Margaret, have three daughters and ten grandchildren, and reside in Raleigh, NC.
Mr. Jones originally joined the company in 1977 when it was still a division of Burlington Industries, Inc. There, he held positions to include Executive Staff Assistant, Plant Manager, and Merchandising Manager. When Precision Fabrics was formed as a private company in 1988, Mr. Jones was named Vice President and Business Director for the Nonwoven Division. In 1999, Mr. Jones was named Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Jones received a BS in Industrial Management from the University of Cincinnati, and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Jones and his wife, Beverly, have a daughter, two sons, and four grandchildren, and reside in Greensboro, NC.

Jeffrey D. Whiting
President and Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Whiting serves as the President and Chief Financial Officer of Precision Fabrics. He began his career with Burlington Industries, Inc., holding positions including VP and General Manager, VP of Operations, Marketing Manager, and Division Controller in multiple operating Divisions. Mr. Whiting spent six years with Dan River, Inc. as VP of Operations and Merchandising of the Home Fashions Division. Prior to joining Precision Fabrics, he served as Director of Business Development for Highland Industries. Mr. Whiting holds an MBA from the Darden School of Business, University of Virginia, and a BS in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Mr. Whiting and his wife, Faye, reside in Greensboro, North Carolina.
